Title: Question for Okinawa 45 campaign participants
Post by: AKA_Relent on February 20, 2018, 01:05:11 pm
I'm currently in contact with Scorp via email, where I'm trying to figure out with his help, if I can improve the spawning situation with the test strips.  In other words, I'm trying to figure out how to reduce the air starts so that everyone spawns on the test strip.  Due to their size, I may not be able to fix the B-29 and B-24 air start, but I'm trying to force all other aircraft to spawn on the ground/test strip.

If I'm not able to figure this out, are things OK/playable as they are now, with respect to some players spawning on the ground/test strip, and some starting in the air (assuming only for the test strips)?

If so, then I won't feel as bad if I can't figure out how to resolve the issue :).

Thanks.

It does not matter to me if players start in the air on the static strips, but the lower the better.

No Problem, Rel...whatever works for both sides.

Are we going to enable locked in cockpit this campaign.
We had some discussion on it previously and we were hinting at it in the last campaign.
While ground ops will have to be conducted with more care, it would reduce unrealistic recon abilities.

I can turn the externals on the ground off it that's the way we want to go.  For test strips, you don't have to taxi at least :).

Also, I increased the spawn circle for the test airstrips to see if the number of air spawns decreases.  I haven't updated the campaign files yet as I'd like to see if it helps first.  If I do this for the campaign, I may need to tweak the road network slightly as I was trying to keep the roads outside the spawn circle (so we don't have enemy units considered friendly by an airfield, which won't shoot at them :) ).

Please let me know if the air starts decrease with the test airstrips.

Thanks,

Salute Gents,
Lets think about the externals and discuss it on Sunday to see what everybody would like.

Question, Are we running an official practice mission on Sunday evening?

I’d like to see if the increased spawn circles of the test strips helps reduce the air starts.  Would be nice to have a decent number of players to test at one time.  If so, I would need to make some changes to the campaign files so Sunday would be optimistic.

Sounds good Rel,
Let’s plan on maximum attendance for testing.
Gos, can you send an e-mail out asking for everyone to attend Sunday at the usual time please.

Cheers

Thanks Gos.

I increased the spawn circles on the test strips, and did a quick test with Gos/Big10/Ram but it seems that only the first two players get ground starts.  On the supply bases, only the first player gets a ground start :(.  I'll try to find a way to fix it, but if I can't figure it out, we'll just have to go with it the way it is.  The normal airfields and carriers are fine re: spawning.

I replaced the practice mission so it's a little better.  The starting mission state is set, so we should be good to go for a test mission (or maybe 2 1.5 hour missions) tomorrow.

I've set Grey and Jer as allied commanders, and Agile and Tai as axis commanders, in case you guys want to test out your moves prior to Sunday's test.
