Title: Pulled the trigger on the VPC WarBRD Base
Post by: HellCat (Sully) on July 10, 2018, 06:17:26 am
I've decided to move on to a different gimble now that a higher quality smoother more accurate all metal one has become available (based off reviews of all Baur's BRD cam sticks) ...Ordered today from Vipril ....it's the VPC WarBRD Base .......

The VPC WarBRD is a collaboration project, featuring the latest iteration of the BRD gimbal design, with the efforts of both BRD and VPC. ....BRD controllers are tried and true and high quality and I can't find a single bad review or problem with Baur's cam design in any of his custom sticks so I pulled the trigger ..... Baur was sent a sample after testing and he concluded that the unit was in fact slightly better due to the fact the contact points were slightly more polished after the intense tests! He was very pleased with the results and quality of the construction and encountered no unpleasant wear compared to the untested samples.

The best part is you can use the Warthog stick handle with no adapters necessary! That means lot's of stick options...

VKB use one CAM per axis, WarBRD use two opposed CAM per axis and are based on BRD-DS gimbal mechanics. BaurBRD was pioneering this in 2010/11 on the Russian forums.
Dual opposing cams ensure 100% symmetrical actuation. All the single cam variants have to have the cam profile modified because whether it's moving towards the pivot point or away from it changes the moment arm/mechanical advantage, thus requiring compensation to the profile of the cam but it's never perfect due to a complex myriad of changing relations that are hard to compensate for.

Mo go here says in stock https://virpil-controls.by/en/shop/sticks/vpc-warbrd-base-vpc (https://virpil-controls.by/en/shop/sticks/vpc-warbrd-base-vpc)

Heads up to those considering ordering...

When ordering make sure to contact your credit card company and tell them your ordering an item from Russia. Have them on the phone when you hit buy. A lot of cards will decline it because it's a outside of US purchase thinking it's fraudulent .

Also in the city box put  city & state

Alright, got it all sorted out...one on the way..the TM gimbal is definitely a huge step above your base JS. But they could have made it so much better..I am greatly looking forward to an all metal gimbal...if it's as smooth as my VKB rudders it will be a huge leap...I especially like how I can put my warthog stick on it.. now we wait 8)

Glad you got it sorted Mo  8) I hope the wait isn't to long ....

I was going to go with the VKB gunfighter base with adapter for the warthog stick to match my VKB pedals too but 1) it was $299 before shipping 2) it's never in stock and 3) I like this cam design best, it makes sense....
After doing a bunch of reading there always seems to be some unit's with issues whether Virpil T-50 or the VKB gunfighter ...but I never see any issues with Bauer's design on any of his sticks...I just could never afford them ...still can't they are super expensive but are supposed to be smooth as silk according to every review I've ever seen ....I'm counting on that reputation and that Virpil electronics completes the new unit nicely !...

I do like the WH grip ....I wanted to get away from the plastic gimble ...it's definitely smoother now since I did the sanding and greasing I just feel like it could be way better .....like the VKB pedals....I'm hoping this will fill that....I may keep the WH base for backup but will probably sell it ..we'll see....

some heads up info I got from Sep71 over at ED

Also, with the heavier Warthog grip on WarBRD base they said you must use the stronger springs (WarBRD base comes with 2 sets of springs - "Standard' and "Heavy"). And this is needed for using the Warthog grip

Here's a link to the thread over at ED forums if you want to read up on it https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=197651 (https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=197651)

Hello VIRPILs!

We would like to issue a new update regarding the status of the pre-order dispatches. Anyone who has requested an update via email/ticket will already know - but we would like to confirm via announcement also!

We’ve been working through the pre-order queue (which opened in mid-April) from the start. There was a very large number of day one pre-orders, so progress through the queue has been slower than we would have liked up till this point.

As some of you have already noticed, the VPC MongoosT-50 Base has recently been marked out of stock on both webstores - this is due to our entire team, production efforts included, being shifted entirely to focus on catching up with the pre-order dispatches ASAP.

We are very pleased to confirm that a large batch of pre-order stock has been prepared and scheduled for dispatch next week - Monday, 30th July. After this batch the total number of pre-order dispatches completed to date will be around the following:

    VPC WarBRD Base: 70-80%
    VPC Constellation Delta Grip: 70-80%
    VPC MongoosT-50 Throttle: 40-50%

The remaining pre-orders will be sent within the following 2-3 weeks (to mid-August).

Thank you to everyone for being patient with us as we've caught up! As always, for anyone who has any questions or concerns please contact us at support@virpil.com.

Thank you for your continued support,
VIRPIL Controls Team

Got it over the weekend .....installed the heavy springs and the software loaded the TMW profile and took the SU-27 for a spin....gotta' say I like it  ....very precise .....takes a light touch to move the stick you can achieve very small increments, more so than with the Warthog....Its not nearly as heavy feeling as the warthog and with the metal gimble I think its a winner ....So far very happy with it ....Only drag is now I have to remap all my aircraft's stick mappings ....not to big a deal everything else stuck.....

Got mine today #205. All I can say right now is I'm impressed with the quality. Defiantly had to go with the heavy springs. The ease of disassemble was a breeze, a far cry from the warthog..Will report back once I use it some...What # was yours ?

Well I did something. I was uploading the warthog profile. Now my PC does not see the stick at all. Not even in the joy stick set up...I set a support ticket..I've been reading and not the only one that has had this happen. Anyway.
