Title: BF-109K vs FW-190-D9
Post by: AKA_Ramstein on March 21, 2019, 04:12:17 am
BF-109K vs FW-190-D9. I have been flying both. I am disappointed in the Dora. It is very easy to blow up/ruin the engine. If you stay easy on it will not blow, but you cannot give it all. Of course I only tried maybe 6 or more, different types of Dogfighting. The 109K seems like you can abuse it a little without problems. Plus it will deliver more of everything, IMHO. Also recovery from a spin/stall is difficult at lower altitudes in the Dora.  I have been working on gun alignments and so far I am not happy with the Dora guns. It may very well turn out I might find or someone will show me how to get it al sorted, I don't know. There maybe some engine adjustments I haven't tried, or adjustments with the guns I haven't tried, I don't know yet. Now, time for Super AirCraft for Americans.   ;)

Hmm, interesting... I found the guns very lethal - I was trying it in quick missions and was ripping the wings off La5FNs in short order with concentrated hits near the wing root.

I tend to be conservative with the German aircraft throttle/engine, not going into combat mode for more than 30-45 seconds at a time, and into emergency for much less at a time (maybe 10-15 seconds). I didn’t have any issues with the engine when operating in this fashion.  I have found that I run into trouble much quicker in German aircraft (and to a lesser degree US aircraft) vs Russian aircraft when it comes to pushing the throttle/engine.

Also, I think I said this,,, it is AI aircraft I have fought with,,, and I bet the humans will burn through engines, where ai will not... I found that with the later aircraft , such as these years, it is much better to expend out a distance and return to pounce,, and not engage in turn fights.... though I trust the 109K much more than the Dora in a tight turn....

would really like to get a group of us and divide up between the 2 aircraft for an intercept...

Ram have you read the specs in game for each AC concerning engine limits and or time at emergency-combat settings?,ive found that they are a pretty good guide to keep your engines alive, ive had no trouble keeping my engines alive even tho I push them harder than Rel does as long as I am mindfull of time at full throttle/boost settings.

I don't think many human pilots burn up engines much in online servers at least not many that ive seen, try reading up on the AC specs in game and that should give you a guide to use for engine management .
