Thanks Turbine-Blade,

While this might have something to do with the problem I think it is either the number of people on the server or AI that spawn in as the mission progresses.  From watching the server it always starts well and then slows down as the mission progresses.  That said the server seems to be behaving well since the weekend.

One point is that we do not make missions.  The campaign is generated from a template mission by Coconuts Campaign Software.  The modification we have made so far are to remove static objects, mostly bridges and residential buildings, from the template mission to reduce the size of the files and number of objects that have to be kept track of.  The campaign that was having problems was one of Coconuts that had not been modified.

I'm no expert but when I looked at the server on Friday evening the CPU did not look like it was overloaded so I'm not sure what the problem is.  I'd hold off while I tinker with the Dserver settings and see how things go.

Looks like the server is having problems with this campaign. I'll reset it with the Stalingrad map and try it.  It is one of the maps I pared down and should run better. I'll put the same campaign on the expert server to give me an idea as to how it runs.

I read somewhere that the VR limit is not enabled with the normal settings.

Mo: I can't find a setting on the server to set the VR limited movement.  The server has a completely different interface to the game, and that setting does not show up there or in the config file.

I see one of the updates is going to add the Fw-190-D.

Since the update is going to have to be applied to our AKA server's before we can fly multiplayer in them. Is it possible that Scorp can add the Dora to the German side in our expert server?

It looks like Coconut is getting out of BoX.  From what he has said he will be shutting his servers down soon and will no longer be supporting his campaign software.  He brought out a new version around March 11 and I thought that would be it from him but then he released another version on March 16.  I'll wait and see if he is going to bring out anything following this BoX update, if not I'll look at adding the new AC myself and maybe making some other tweaks. 

Coconut writes in F# a language I'm not that familiar with but in some ways is similar to the Visual programming I have done.   So even if Coconut has thrown in the towel all is not lost.

Hi Guys,

Back home in the frozen North,  I thought it was chilly in Southern California this year but it's much worse here.

So as we start thinking about the next campaign the first thing we need to put together is the plane set.  Once we have a possible plane set I can put it on the Expert server and we can start testing it.

There are not a lot of ways to limit how many of each AC are available but I think we can make certain models premium or "best plane" as Coconut calls them.  This might limit how many of the best AC are around.

In the mean time I have upgraded the campaign software to the latest version, it was last changed mid February so it looks as if the revisions on it are slowing down.  There may be one soon to fix any changes in the latest BoX patch.  I have also updated the stats software so that should be back online.

In the past with Coconuts campaign it was not possible to have the Battle of Bodenplatte aircraft but I believe that has been changed.  We can put together just about any plane set we want and I believe we can make limit the number of premium AC available and we can set which AC are premium .

Is there a publicly available campaign structure for DCS?

To the best of my knowledge the only BoX campaign that has been made available is Coconuts so unless someone wants to write a hell of a lot of code that is what we have to work with.  Coconut has written his code for his servers and how he wants a campaign to work, which is exactly what we did when we developed the 1946 campaign, so we are more or less stuck with what he produces.

We did fly together as a squad but as Rel can attest to there was a lot of bitching than went on mostly about plane sets. 

If we want to fly as a squad my recommendation is TAW.  It's a tough campaign and if you fly Russian(which is where you have the biggest challenge) it is a tough slog through the first few maps.  TAW however can be rewarding if you fly as a squad and don't go off lone wolfing it.
