@everyone Official Persian Gulf Round - October 19th at 18:00 UTC

We're ready to launch the official Blue Flag round this Friday, October 19th at 18:00 UTC. The round will last until Sunday, November 4th - or until the map is fully conquered - which ever comes first. The winner is the team holding the most objectives at the end of the time period.

Questions? Ask in #blueflag.

We have also published a list of useful information and community and server rules in #bf-info-rules, make sure to check it out!

All server state as well as unpacked units is saved (even through crashes) providing a dynamic online battle.

Any OPEN BETA updates during the round period will be applied to the server as soon as possible - unless a module is disabled or broken.

TacView will be disabled on the server but the tracks are saved and will be published after the round.

The current PG server will be taken offline in preparation tomorrow on Wednesday, October 17th at 18:00 UTC and will be reset to a completely neutral state without any captured bases.

To start your planning early - join the server and type either "red" or "blue" to set your selection for Friday. This will give you access to your teams HQ on Discord for Planning.

There will be NO side switches during the official round - once you've picked, it's final until the end of the round so think carefully before typing! Make sure you check which side has your desired modules (see below)!

The #commander-application channel is now open. Register to command your side (ability to pin & manage your messages in the HQ channel) by typing red/blue - PG. If you receive enough votes you'll be given commander status by a BuddySpike Admin.(edited)
Full SOP here: https://tinyurl.com/bf-sop-v2 - it relates to Caucasus but a lot of the information is relevant - thanks to @MorpheusXAUT and @SILVER 11 | =ESOX= Dedde and many others.

Please note: When the server is restarting, DO NOT JOIN IT AS SOON AS IT'S VISIBLE, wait until you see 30 seconds on the mission timer before trying to join.

I believe it was because of quite a lot of disagreements with the Buzz and ATAG guys.  ATAG imo really blew it when it came to supporting other servers and concepts, a real power struggle.

So they moved on.

And the saga continues....

I think what Sully did is a good approach now - sounds like that is what the fix will be

Preorder complete!

Matte - what stick do you have ?

I have CH Products, and as far as I could tell (just did a quick air start), but bindings weren't affected.

This might help

Workaround for users with broken bindings (images in comments)

ED introduced some "default" bindings for various sticks in the latest update. These profiles show up in your DCS installation directory under <DCS Directory>/Mods/aircraft/<module>/Input/<module>/joystick

Simply delete or move these profiles. I used "Search Everything" by voidtools to search my machine for TWCS .diff.lua, and deleted the profiles that didn't have a hash after them (see imgur album)

Could be wrong, but I heard this might work now, but every time they update, you might have to do this over and over again.... sucks, but might be best to rebind now and stick with their new system of bindings

Ironic this is all to make it easier in the future . :)

Eventually you will have to rebind - as Rel pointed out.

So you can not upgrade and stay on release, and take the pain later.  Or rebind now to the new system.

Of course, they might do it over and over again.

It's really a crap upgrade system they have in terms of this binding issue.

Keep in mind, I think it only affects you if you have a controller with presets (ie. Warthog users).   I have all CH Products and it doesn't appear to have effected me at all.  *knock on wood*

DCS Series Flight Sims / BF: SA342 Changes
« on: October 08, 2018, 11:37:16 am »
Mostly for Relent - this is in the BF Discord Announcements - I had mentioned it on comms a few nights ago:

"After the next restart, there will be a few changes to the Gazelle variants and their capabilities on the Persian Gulf scenario. Please note that the Caucasus scenario will remain unchanged at this point.

SA342L: will remain unchanged, can carry troops + crate, uses helicopter lives, spawns with regular loadout
SA342M: will be able to gather intel and call in bombers, can also carry a crate from now on, uses helicopter lives, spawns with regular loadout
SA342Mistral: will no longer be able to gather intel or call in bombers, can no longer carry a crate, can now carry troops, uses interceptor lives, spawns with 2/4 missiles

These changes should help reduce the Mistral's ability to dominate a small airspace while still keeping it viable and hopefully somewhat increase the Mike's usefulness.
As usual, these changes are done as tests in preparation for the upcoming official round. Please provide us with (constructive) feedback and let us know if additional issues arise."

also need red cap spawning in - Su27's - can't take a FARP without pushing those pesky fighters out of the way first!

Any other paper work I should submit in the meantime ?

I asked some questions around DDCS:   Very informative:

similar play to blue flag, but with the ability to actually command the units with CA and some additional features that are pretty nice
AKA_ReconToday at 11:00 AM
so generally speaking the red and blue circles are showing who currently controls that base/farp
when I click on one, should I be seeing anything ?
like the status of it
also, from what I was told, do both sides have the same AC ?  Are there issues with IFF or friendly fire if so ?
QuagglesToday at 11:02 AM
You don't get any more details apart from which side owns it

Drex (The server owner) is going to rewrite the web map at some point so it shows all the friendly units on there as well
AKA_ReconToday at 11:02 AM
ok cool
QuagglesToday at 11:03 AM
And yeah on the standard server some aircraft overlap, a few are sidelocked though like blue has the F-15 and F-5E and red has the Su-27, J-11, MiG-29 and MiG-21
AKA_ReconToday at 11:03 AM
do you declare a side when you join ?
ok, is F/A-18 on both sides then ?
QuagglesToday at 11:03 AM
But ones like the Mirage 2000C and F/A-18C are on both
Yep
AKA_ReconToday at 11:03 AM
ok, probably helps with keeping balanced sides
are ground units also by red or blue ?
QuagglesToday at 11:04 AM
The Hardcore server on the Persian Gulf has no overlapping aircraft and enforces using SRS
Ground units have no overlap, no red unit is on and blue(edited)
AKA_ReconToday at 11:04 AM
ok, so PG there are no shared AC ?
QuagglesToday at 11:05 AM
Yep
It's still in development and not many people play on it yet
AKA_ReconToday at 11:05 AM
ok.  thanks for answering my questions
QuagglesToday at 11:05 AM
It has a hardcore ruleset where the F10 map is disabled, kill messages are disabled and the server rotates into nighttime
On the standard server you can't bring modern AA missiles like the R-77, AIM-120, R-27ER or R-27ET
And on hardcore you can bring those weapons but only 2 at a time
AKA_ReconToday at 11:07 AM
oh, we mentioned jets, overlap on any helo's ?
NEW MESSAGES
QuagglesToday at 11:08 AM
All helos are available to both teams
SF_FarragoToday at 11:08 AM
all aircraft besides FC3 fighters are on both

Perhaps this should be considered because then we are limited in the non-FC3 ac choices
