DCS Series Flight Sims / Its not bad, that A-4E-C mod
« on: March 17, 2019, 07:49:09 pm »
Surprisingly, I am digging this mod for its old era technology.

It is also fast enough to avoid most aaa sites, has an interesting array of weapons and can even use 2 sidewinders in a pinch.
There is also a AG45 shrike capability as well as a ground radar , which I have yet to fully discover.
Also the autopilot modes are functional and interesting.
With proper cap and wild weasel support this thing is a great bomb lugger.

If DCS ever make A-4 to buy I am all over it.
This mod rocks! Looks like v 1.3 is a fine version!

Technical Help / image mechanical HD to SSD
« on: November 30, 2018, 10:28:49 am »
My main drive is mechanical and
win7 professional N

I would very much like to image this drive to a SSD but imagine it is not really possible today.

Anyway, we used to do this where i worked using linux command line (to do the actual imaging)  but that was years ago and i'm sure this trick cannot be done anymore.

Is there a way to transfer an entire drive image to a solid state drive?

DCS Series Flight Sims / what is this?
« on: November 19, 2018, 07:23:08 am »
After 3 attempts at un-installation and installation, each of which took many hours, I am still presented with this display when the game starts..

Please notice that I have no modules and more importantly, no access to any of the icons above, like settings, etc..  The game interface is squashed and many buttons are missing. Has anyone in DCS world seen anything like this?

When uninstalling, every file left behind was deleted, including the game folders.

NVIDIA control panel shows one display only ( as it should be) .

I simply cannot figure out why this is happening to after completely uninstalling the game.

It was ok on the first install then I went in and was looking for a way to make the display larger, stumbled across multi monitor and FOV selections somewhere, that is all I remember.  Because the game was completely uninstalled, more than once how can this be? It seems DCS keeping some settings persistent on an off site place that I cannot access, thus I am screwed. and understandably, quite annoyed. This DCS installer seems to me to be a little off the charts.

IL_2 Cliffs of Dover / Long pauses in multiplayer COD
« on: October 28, 2018, 06:53:04 am »
Ok, So if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears.

About every 2-5  mins or so a long pause sets in like a screen freeze, followed by the update of where my plane has moved to.
Pause time varies from a few secs to over 30. It always recovers.

I'm thinking "format C:\ :might do the trick?

IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad / ZETEXY CHANNEL
« on: September 01, 2018, 01:14:17 pm »
You guys probably watched some of this already.
Just in case you have not, ZETEXY seems to really bring out the 'eye candy'  aspect of BOS, (almost like a BOS movie.)
To see all of them in a list go into utube search and enter

The one below is for P40

I enjoy watching this stuff when it is well made :)

Me and rage are trying to get him connected.

No connection with authorization server when he tries to enter the game.
After this download.
Something related to this auth server and many have before encountered this but We see no solution.

IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad / Launcher failure
« on: September 14, 2017, 02:21:47 pm »
Just checking if I am th e only one with this problem.

I started launcher today (The one that updates the game when it needs it) and it just outright failed.
Some clues relate to compatibility but I do not really know how serious this is yet.

Anyone else with win7 having issue with launcher?

IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 / BOS (again)
« on: May 30, 2017, 02:52:28 pm »
Guys its time to start thinking about flying more advanced sim. For me it turns out I can actually fly BOS, even with a wimpy GTX 560 ti and a 3.6GHz (slightly overclocked) CPU; obviously, all the guys I know have better systems than I. Please correct me if this is not the case and I will apologize profusely to you. I can get 50 fps most times with balanced settings and everything turned off.
The smoothness in which the air craft are moving about the sky looks perfectly acceptable to me.

Anyway, there was some chatter going on in the last week or so about the possibility of Making Friday nights for BOS exclusively.
Personally, I think Rel deserves a break with all the work it takes setting up the campaign (who could blame him) and (the idea is) by making it just one
day a week instead of two that this would lower the burden of responsibility and also give us all a chance to get hooked up and flying comfortably in the BOS sim.

There is the question of using the campaign generator in BOS, perhaps it would have to start out much weaker as in say some COOP missions that would each last about an hour and were strung together in a queue.?
Also where to fly. ?
Some want to go into the Wings of Liberty. I mildly would prefer a separate server , at least for the beginning part. I know some of the guys just want to fly the birds first, maybe practice some ground strafing and bombing , get used to navigation , touch and go's.
I think we all have this BOS installed and running except Duck. and Wayno? I can't be sure. Anyway, chime in if you need BOS, hope the BOS idea catches on. Obviously it is a totally different game from IL2 but I think it has potential to be a long term entertainer, especially with future upgrades.

Thanks for listening :)

Lets start with everyone telling this thread what times they might be around and maybe from that we could go ahead from there with informal flying sessions to start.

It is definitely not necessary for me that it be taw server. Whatever server we can find of put up for us guys to get our rigs squared up with ,learn how to fly again with the new FM's and so on..

I can only say I can ( usually )find my way to TS to fly BOM/BOS
on Saturday afternoon or evening(opps DCS), maybe Sun afternoon too
and most nights during the week.

General Discussion / P51- BL Radio Controlled aircraft hobby
« on: January 03, 2017, 09:02:29 pm »
I been meaning to get around to doing this hobby again as intensely as I did a few years ago :) I was flying radio controlled fixed wing aircraft and it was a way to relax quickly after each daunting day at work.

Stumbled across this camera type (808 #16) after my son bought a similar dice cube camera for me.  Also came across very good LED lights from some work related project. I  fitted them to a RC Model P51-BL, allowing for night flights.
It is called Point of View flying POV, so its all from the ground like normal RC flying but the footage makes it feel as if the flying is being done in the cockpit. It does take some skill to fly this way (and a lot of expensive crashes) but by the time of these films  I had it pretty well mastered.

I never gotten tired of looking at these videos, even years later. :)
For those that like seeing this kind of stuff, enjoy!

IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad / TAW server
« on: January 03, 2017, 05:20:09 pm »
Hey Matte,

Was nice to see you guys on BOS/BOM  taw server the other night. ()Saturday I think it was)
Thanks for the help getting registered in the TAW server. :)

Short as it was, I still had a blast with you guys (Wiley, Ramstein, Hangten :) I actually got some ground targets and brought the plane home for two consecutive missions, oh boy!

Be great to hook up again soon for more practice (or real) missions on the taw server.

IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 / MD style COOPS
« on: September 05, 2016, 10:28:26 am »

I'm putting this link here in case anyone wants to try hosting.

These are Moving dogfight style COOP files. They are run as a dogfight server
as in 'yourgame\missions\net\dogfight\'yourfolder' containing my files in it.

I hope they work.!AqZ-L9Z_OB-KgVRwr9VzOsO3xBau
