Do you know offhand if you are able to use the F5 view?

The same trigger that fires your gun.  You have to box the TRIG on the FLIR page to enable that function.

DCS Series Flight Sims / ACM Mission
« on: July 30, 2019, 08:21:01 pm »
The latest ACM mission has been uploaded to Dropbox.

4 main areas:

1.  Guns only - F-5, F-14, F-15, F-18, M2000 on both sides
2.  ACM (IR missiles and guns) - F-5, F-14, F-15, F-18, M2000 on both sides
3.  BVR Medium (Medium range SARH, IR, guns) - F-14, F-15, F-18, M2000 on both sides
4.  BVR Long (Long range ACT, IR, guns) - F-14, F-15, F-18 on both sides

All Blue aircraft start on the coastline.  All red starts inland.  So Blue aircraft need to head East to merge with their targets, likewise Red aircraft need to fly West.

There is a blue carrier group available for landing practice.  Several airfields are available for both sides to land.  AWACS is available on both sides.

Ram the double big circle is your helmet mounted display which is mainly used to lock on and fire your Aim-9X sidewinders upwards of around 70 degrees off boresight (so almost to your 3-9 line).  Turn that on, arm sidwinders (have to be the 9x), look at the target putting the circle on it and hit your uncage button.  If you get a tone and the circle stays locked on him then fire.  With the 18 being a good instantaneous high alpha turn fighter, couple it with that sight and the 9x and you should be able to get a lock on something and fire pretty quickly.

I wouldn't bother putting the 16 in there as it will probably be a good 4-6 months before we see that (in a usable form).

I wouldn't mind doing the F-5 also in addition to the ones I picked.  That bird can be brutally hard to fight in.  If you run it out of energy it seems impossible to get it back in a reasonable amount of time.

Yes you do have to uncage.  I will test it tonight to be sure nothing has changed but I'm betting that is your missing step.

I'm up for anything.  Lord knows I need more work in the 14.

The date stamp on the Early access guide in my docs folder is from Feb of this year so yeah it has been like 6 months since they've updated it.  Since then the JDAMs and JSOW have been implemented.  My only guess is that they won't put anything in to the manual until they are 100% sure that feature is in a finished state?  I don't know.

Yes, right now YouTube is your best source for most things.  That is where I learned how to do JDAM and JSOW employment.  (Though I am still working on multiple weapon drops on a single pass with those).

The F-5 can do some ATG if someone else is with you to buddy lase, you can drop LGB-12s.

So as stated earlier the seasons are broken up into 6 month segments.  We are approaching the end of season 1 (Sunday June 30th).  Thus far nobody has completed the A-10C certification training ... although I fully expected it may well take 2 seasons to get through it considering how many systems and weapons have to tested on.  We have had a few people make significant progress in the missions and I wouldn't be surprised if we have a couple of people with their names in the bucket to get a module at the end of season 2.  Don't forget, you can start at any time, you do not need to wait for the beginning of a season.  To those working on it, good job so far and keep at it.

DCS Series Flight Sims / Re: poll: WWII maps and aircraft

I have:

Spit iX LF
Normandy Map

If any of you guys go up in DCS WWII for some missions let me know and I will try and tag along.  I know the P-47 is coming and I'm pretty sure there is at least 1 or 2 others on the drawing board thereafter but yeah DCS is not going to compete with the dedicated WWII sims out there in respect of airframe selection.  But it still would be fun.  I might buy at least 1 campaign for the P-51 for the sale.  I really want to see that carpet bombing action.

I picked up all campaigns related to the A-10C.  The downside is that you can't use any bonus points you have built up on those purchases.  Ah well.

I may start picking up some campaign packages since they are $5 ea.
