IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad / Re: @Scrop
« on: October 04, 2019, 04:24:04 pm »
Big 10, yes I just saw this whole blow-up on the IL2 forums regarding the improved visual distance rendering on the original update since it's release. I have also seen some of those few people posting and demanding on the IL2 Forums for the game developers to change it back to the old setting for all their Full Realism believes.

I do think it's a crock of crap that the Game developers even entertained the remarks of some of those folks by making that visual distance rendering change with this recent Hotfix patch. But since the game developers also seem to be taking heat from those with a different viewpoint regarding the distance rendering they added this choice on the server side to make a choice.

It appears that the new distance rendering will be default ON in a Normal Server, and default OFF in an expert server. They also give you an option for Custom so the server host can choose one or the other. So we should be able to have the expert server settings, but choose to turn ON the improved distance rendering. It should be no big deal just need to make sure that Scorp and Goshawk and those in charge of our BOS server understand what the switch does.

I think the best bet would be just to have the server hosts put in a game description on the server list who has it on and or off.

I'll bet the one who have it on will out number those who don't.

This is one of those issues that is going to cause some repercussions in those guys hosting the TAW campaign. Those flying allied will want it enabled, the high flying germans wont.

Not looking at updating the our Private Campaign server as I know Scorp will need time to adjust to the new maps, new command and settings.

With that being said, it shouldn't be that much of an issue to just physically add the new aircraft P-38, P-51, and Tempest to our Expert Server just we can can get up and practice with these new birds.

I was wondering about that 150 Octane Fuel. Can the P-38 also use that fuel?

Only had time for a quick test drive of the P-38. Startup appears straight forward like in 46.

They added some new key/stick mapping such as Elevator Trim and Aileron Trim. Those are new to BOS. 1946 always had that but BOS didn't. Need to find out if this will replace the Axis Aircraft Adjustable Stabilizer settings if so I can remap.

Saw that this new version will also allow for Aircraft Repair and Aircraft Refuel/Rearm similar to DCS. But the server settings would need to be enabled to take advantage of those functions.

Also, I antipate the German side is going to lose it's ever loving mind when they find out the P-38 can carry 2 of those 2000 lb. bombs on it's centerline.

Going to need to develop a startup procedure for the P-51 I think, havent messed with it yet but saw people asking about it on the multiplayer server I was in testing out the 38.

Also going to need to some new P-38 skins.

My initial thoughts.

Saw that, going to give the Gosimer a call to tell him to update the server.

Apparently you purchased the premium editions of Battle of Stalingrad which got you both the La-5, and the Fw-190 A-3.

You also must have purchased the premium edition of Battle of Bodenplatte and that got the Fw-190 Dora, as they only released that aircraft early.  You WILL also get the P-38J-25 once the next game update comes out. Both the Fw-190-D and the P-38J-25 are collector planes for the premium Bodenplatte edition.

When they first announced Bodenplatte, they talked about the P-38L. The L model with the Xmas tree launchers in 1946 allowed the aircraft a big loadout for ground attack. 10 rockets total, plus up to 3 bombs. That's what I thought was coming. I'm not disappointed. Just glad we are getting the 38.

In the latest blog, it looks like in addition to the 38 and 51, we are also getting the Tempest and a new Map. Plus they are claiming new distance rendering and bigger cities and airfields.

I'm hoping and praying these guys don't F-Up this update.

Check it out, here is the link. https://il2sturmovik.com/news/494/dev-blog-231/

Not happy about the P-38's. This was the first time they showed the aircraft with attached armaments.
Looks like the 38 gets the dreaded rocket tubes, no xmas tree's under the wings.

TG, I know the Gos has Comcast/Xfinity for his cable provider. I also have them and for the most part it has been a relatively problem free provider.

However where I am located. Comcast/Xfinity is laying all new high speed fiber optic cable lines to replace thier older lines. Been going on here by me for about the last 2 weeks and I have been experiencing loss of cable internet or TV off and on again for about the same time frame.

Not sure if they may be doing the same type of work in Gos's neck of the woods but he can ask.

Complex fatigue modeling that takes into account G-overload Pilot fatigue??? That should screw some shit up somewhere's IMHO

Also a Air Marshall mode ?????

I just had to rerun the game updater to fix mine. Thought I had it fixed last night but guess not. Small 1.84 mb update and Im back up again.

13
I followed the directions from yesterday and deleted the updats folder from the game directory, and backed up and saved my startup.cfg file. Then re-ran the updater.

Worked perfectly. I ran the game but found out I had to redo my email Addy in the BoS login. So I quit and put back in my backed up startup cfg file. Problem solved.

Rel,

Yep we ran the campaign map last night. Only 6 guys showed up for the mission. Myself, Agile, Goshawk, TG, Rage and Juggernaut. There are things going on in that map that we need to discuss and maybe revisit how we want to proceed in the 1946 campaigns with this small turnout. We may want to either start over or come up with a smaller map as the allies with the small turnout's, the increased AI and having a supply base thats about a 30 minute flight to resupply puts us at a distinct disadvantage in this campaign. On mission 2 or 3 the AI already suppressed Segi and they are about to do it again.

May I suggest a TS get together to discuss the perceived shortfalls?
