IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad / Re: First AKA training mission on BOS

After you left Gos, myself, Wolf, and Rage continued to piddle around and scouted out the map looking for potential target sites. We found quite a bit.So we could put together a few alternate strike missions to do after an strike on an enemy airfield.

As for leading an Axis mission occasionally Yes, I can volunteer to try it. I think as you mentioned earlier we need to have other guys in the squad step up and lead missions too. I'm not looking forward to making this a full time task.

I also agree with the observations Wiley made. It will be very hard to pre-plan or develop any type of a mission on Coconuts Dynamic Server as each sides objectives and targets need time to develop as both sides aircraft fly around and discover the various targets of opportunity. IE .... moving convoys, tanks, factories, supply storage facilities, dugout etc.

With that being said, about the only thing you MIGHT be able to pre-plan a mission for is a large scale attack on an enemy airfield.

The other concern is regarding the availabilty of all the aircraft that would be needed to make such a strike at our front line bases. Remember we are using the AKA Expert Dynamic Campaign server and I think Scorp has it set up with a limited supply of aircraft at the front line bases. The campaign is setup so that each pilot must move or ferry aircraft of his choice to the front line bases. Because of that reason, each AKA pilot would need to come up from the supply base on whatever side we decide we are going to be flying on.

This will make for long flights on the Kuban map, but it is do-able. Attacking an enemy airfield would also mean that enemy ai fighters (limited as they are) will come up to attack us, we will also have to overcome the AAA at the airfield itself and we will need to ID and destroy the various airfield targets. Hangers, Fuel Supply areas, Ammo Storage area, and Other Storage facilities.

Also, one other thing we need to consider is there is a potential chance for non-AKA human intervention on EITHER side as the current AKA Expert Server is open to the public. This could cause a wrinkle in any mission plan.

Really you never heard of that expression?
I thought that with both of us being retired public safety people with conservative views living in liberal cities, we would have some shared expressions. Maybe that expression is only a Chicago thing.

Well we have discussed the attendence and gameplay issues regarding BOTH the BoS campaign and the 1946 campaign with Taipan previously. For the last two week's now we have heard that we may have some sort of meeting to try to mitigate the issues. Alas, thats as far as we have gotten.

So, hopefully this will help explain the meaning of my prior post.

We need to S@#t or get off the pot in making a squad decision on what we are going to do in regards to our AKA Squad only dynamic campaign.

Speaking for myself only, I am done with flying the Russian birds. Next Friday I will be up in Coconuts if we are still flying this current campaign.

Add another update this one to 3.010B

Gos, just letting you know there has been another update to BOS.

One yesterday updated to 3.010, another today updated to 3.010B

1st Impressions of the new update, are pretty good especially regarding the graphics. Whatever they did seemed to make visability a bit easier.

New BOS Update 3.010

Thanks Scorp, found it interesting reading all the various changes Coconuts has made with each varient of the campaign. Also found that he made a change to include destroying Static aircraft at an airfield depletes the available aircraft at that airfield. Similar to what we have in our 1946 campaigns.

Ok Guys, I have a few questions regarding updating the A-4C version to the new and improved v102.

Since this is a new version of a mod, and they are calling for a complete uninstall of the old version before installing the new version. I thought it best to ask in here on a template for how to remove the old version, since there is absolutley nothing out there on how to actually do this without F@#!'ing up your existing game.

I have already downloaded the new version along with the readme file and that brings up another question.

The Readme states to place the "Mods" Folder into C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha folder.

Problem is I don't have a C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha folder mine is DCS.openbeta.

Can anyone explain the correct format or meet up with me on TS one evening to sort through the uninstall/install process?

Thanks for the info Matte, I don't think a lot of guys were aware of the updated version for the A-4.

Well after some extensive testing with TG, Big Ten, and Mogas. I can say yes, IMHO they did some tinkering with the flight models. In my test flights I found the sensitivities we're higher after the patch in all three flight characteristics. Pitch, Roll and Yaw.

I had to tone down my stick sensitivities and my dead zones a few notches to compensate for the changes.

Just wondering. Got on a few servers last night After the second update. Noticed the flight handling characteristics of the 109F4 seemed somewhat looser, sloppy after this last update.

I fly the F4 varient a lot and I had my stick settings pretty tight and always felt the aircraft was very responsive.

Has anyone else noticed a change?

IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad / AKA BoS servers are down.

FYI to Gos, Scorp and the AKA BoS server admins.

The AKA Campaign servers are down. There were 2 updates to BoS over the last two days. One for about 895mb on Wednesday, and a second update for about 198mb on Thursday. Most likely the servers need to be updated also.

Thanks for the info Ram, going to try to get the Hornet one mo time and hopefully I won't have issues as my previous attempt.

Giving up on the A-10C, the learning curve is too much for my head to handle.
