IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad / Re: Enemy aircraft identification

Unless the bug has been fixed, that will just confuse things.  For some reason, if you pick USSR is always RED, when you look at the full screen map the friendly airfields show up as red, but the friendly ground units and production/storage areas show up as blue, and visa versa for the German side.

If the bug has not been fixed, I recommend you pick one of the others (e.g. friendly is always BLUE).

Wow, all caps even!  :). Sorry Clutter, I must have missed that, I didn’t know you were having problems with that.

Since you can have only one handle on the master IL2 server, you would need to sign up/register on TAW with that one.  Then log into the IL2 master server (I.e IL2 website), change your handle to your alter ego, then register for the other side on the TAW site with this altered handle.

Then before joining the TAW multiplayer server, make sure your current IL2 handle matches the side you wish to fly on.

Of course, this round of TAW is over, so you’ll have to wait until the next round.

We got to get you in. Had a blast flying with Wiley again. Still hate the Russian POS aircraft, but flew the A-20.

Think Rel the TAW C.O. needs to add me officially to the TAW participants from the AKA squad.

Good to see another flying TAW.  I added you to the AKA:

It's just for showing the squadron stats, nothing else.

You can also see those with the "AKA_" tag by using the following URL (not linked to a squadron per se):

Thanks Ram - I haven't tried JDAM or JSOW yet... I just took a look at RedKite's videos on the two weapons - he's the best: .

It’s got no password so it’s a public server.  Also, as it mentions Coconuts server controller it attracts some of those who flew on his servers.

Thanks Scorp - FYI I think there was a hot fix (today), assuming that had already been applied.

Fathers’ Day, I may not attend, but since it’s against AI, why not for those that want to fly it :).

My update was much smaller it seems.  When it started it only showed downloading the delta, indicating about 1.2 GB, then a few minutes later I looked and it was installing the update.  So, it may depend on how much you have in your cache/temp files from before it seems.

It could be if you died/bailed/crashed... remember it kicks you sometimes if you try to spawn in the same location again.  You may need to click on the supply base, pick a plane, then click back on Segi and spawn.  This is a known IL2/46 issue we’ve seen before.  Was anyone else able to spawn in a P-38 at Segi?  Seems there are P-38s there...

Keep in mind that for the original campaign the older aircraft were by design meant for AI only, thus only available at the supply base.  On the Japanese side, I changed some of the AI roles to use more front line versions, since there are no humans expected (or very few, like 1).

Regarding P-38’s and others at Segi, I see plenty (last column):

TBF1   Renard_Airfield   CC12   1   32
A_20G   Segi_Airfield   BO18   1   44
B_25D20   Segi_Airfield   BO18   1   47
B_25H1   Segi_Airfield   BO18   1   30
F4F3   Segi_Airfield   BO18   1   64
F4F4   Segi_Airfield   BO18   1   29
F4U1A   Segi_Airfield   BO18   1   40
F6F3   Segi_Airfield   BO18   1   25
P_38G15LO   Segi_Airfield   BO18   1   23
P_39D2   Segi_Airfield   BO18   1   25
P_40M   Segi_Airfield   BO18   1   31

Hey Grey - that's odd, shouldn't have been that low.  I refilled the supply/fuel at Segi and Renard so you should be able to take off with bombs at Segi now.  Hopefully you'll be set next Tuesday.  Also, I lowered the AI experience one more level to 1 (average).  Hopefully that will help.

Hey Blazin - good to hear from you.  Nice shooting (wow, that's a long ways away!)

I changed the AI experience back to Veteran (was Ace), so that should help.  I reduced the bomber, attack and anti-shipping flights back to 3 flights of 3 (from 3 flights of 4), which of course spawn 4 times during the 3 hour mission.  This should help reduce the number of AI aircraft and improve playability.  Keep in mind the AI aircraft numbers won't change in the next mission, but the one after, as mentioned above.

There are plenty of P-40's at Segi (currently 31), so Hang may have just died/crashed/bailed and got kicked after he tried another P-40...

I haven't adjusted the aircraft number at Segi yet, as they are fairly high, although I did bump up the F6F-3 numbers on the carriers.  Also, where the F4U1A's didn't have any numbers on the carriers (not really historic for 1943), I've added a few to the carriers for fun sake - hope that's OK :).

Question on the use of supply base. Since this is just us against the AI, can we ommit the supply base? Make our current airfield with enough aircraft that we don't have to worry about ferring. Is that even a possibility

The only other red airbase is Segi, and I think all aircraft there have inventory numbers between the 20’s and 40’s, so it’s pretty well stocked.  I’m not sure if I can put some arbitrarily large number as it may reset it to a lower number...  we can always restock after a few missions.  Same for the carriers, I can up the numbers there from 16 to 32 for those popular types.  Seems there are always a lot of losses from landings :).

Thanks Scorp - you posted just before I did.  I hadn’t noticed that setting.
