DCS Series Flight Sims / Persian Gulf map - space?

Can anyone tell me approximately how much space the PG map takes up?  I have a 256GB SSD for DCS, BOX, ROF, IL2/46, etc, and it has about 80GB free.  It seems maps take about 30GB, although the ED site mentions 60!  If anyone can confirm their before/after remaining disk space after installing the PG map, it would be appreciated.

When flying on TAW with civilprotection the other night, he mentioned that he uses a 5 second bomb delay, which allows him to drop bombs extremely low and have them go off successfully.  I tried it and it works!  I used to have the default 2 second delay, and sometimes I would drop too low and they would not arm/explode.

So, unless you are using bombs against moving targets where you want less of or no delay (at the cost of having to drop from higher alt), I suggest everyone use a 5 second delay if you plan on dropping bombs at very low altitude.

S! all,

I worked on the NA42 campaign configuration, and I think I fixed the missing parts - there were changes to IL2/46 and HSFX since this was run back in 2014, so I had to make some tweaks.  I generated a mission and was able to run the mission offline and spawn into aircraft OK, which is a good sign.  It would probably be good to run some test campaign missions.

In the mean time, I generated a mission and have set up the dogfight server to run that mission - so if you want to practice flying the NA aircraft, feel free.  Also, when I was setting it up with Tai, we discussed and made a few slight tweaks, including:

- Ships are 200 points instead of 300 like before (some convoys only have 1 destroyer and 3 transports, so they are less risky to attack)
- Parked aircraft are 30 points instead of 20
- I've made all twin engine bombers "backup" supply aircraft, which will take 5 units of fuel/supply instead of 10 like the normal supply aircraft.  The German side has the Me323 as before, just one at the supply base (it holds 30 units of fuel)


Tai, let me know when you want to run the first test mission - maybe we can do 2x90 minute missions on two separate nights, that would be a good test, then go live.  As you may have seen, the web site is already set up with the NA42 campaign, so you can see the plane set - of course we need to set up the sides again, and I can change that info once it's decided.

Was looking at the Coconut thread in the IL2 forum, and saw this in one of the responses by Coconut regarding the cash reserve:

So head's up that in a future build of the Coconut campaign engine, you will no longer be able to use your cash reserve to buy the right to a plane in a forward airfield if you didn't ferry it yourself.

I saw this thread on the ED forums, and I have similar issues as the original poster:  https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215570

I posted on this thread too, but wonder if anyone else has similar issues as me.  Basically I have to give full nose down trim, and even then I have to give some downward/forward stick pressure to keep her level.  No issues like this on any other aicraft, just the F-5E.. it's very annoying and makes it not much fun to fly :(.

JTAC radios comms error due to SA-18 fixed.
AI F/A-18C. Incorrect surfaces position with cold start of AI aircraft corrected.
AI F/A-18C. Default control surfaces after landing corrected.

Sound distortion when passing through Mach 1 corrected.

Added option and input command to enable/disable afterburner detent, default fingerlift key is for both. For normal operation, you must re-save the options before the first use.

Pressing boxed ACM on the radar format now returns the radar to search (in addition to resetting ACM condition).
When a new A/A weapon is selected the radar track mode is retained now.
If the gun was selected as A/A weapon, pressing undesignate in all ACM modes, as well as TDC in BST/VACQ, always returns the radar to GACQ mode.
BST/VACQ/WACQ modes, when selected with A/A gun, now override GACQ mode. It can be observed after the radar breaks lock. RTS commanded by pilot instead always reverts to GACQ.
Fixed mixed/lost modes symbology in ACM. Was especially noticeable with missing GACQ circle after RTS was performed or break lock occurred.
Engine start with ground air source.
Added input for station jettison selection buttons.
Different RPM indication on DDI and IFEI fixed.
CCIP mode is designating a target at weapon release which switches the MODE to AUTO - fixed.
Bomb programs quantities corrected.

After flying with Thrud on BF last night, where we completed a runway/tarmac strike on Beslan on the deck, full afterburner and dropping our loads of 10xMk82SE's...

I was either damaged by ground fire/AAA/SAM or by Thrud's Mk-82SE blasts (he was about 2 seconds ahead of me, at my 10 OC, on a parallel coarse), happened too fast to notice from what.



She flew a little warbly on the way home, but when I slowed to land she was all over the place (had no rudders, no left elevon, no left flaperon, and holes in both wings) - I ended up skidding down the runway sideways for 1/2 of my landing once I was wheels down (lost my tires too! :) ).



Thrud did the BDA's and took the screen shots.

From what I've read in the thread (which is huge), I think this will be a core aircraft, not a mod that would fail MP integrity checks.  I can't remember where in the thread I had read this, but regardless it'll be a fun little number to fly.

This thread was moved to the mods sub-forum, so clearly it wouldn't pass any MP integrity check.  However I tried it and was able to take off over the allowed weight and go bomb some stuff.  I put the LUA file back the way it was (had backed it up first), so max 2xMk82's per pylon again, but was nice to have 6x! :).  It could be fun for offline play.

If you wanted to try it, you can do this:
- Navigate to <DCS World OB Home>\CoreMods\aircraft\FA-18C
- Backup the FA-18C.lua just in case
- Edit the FA-18C.lua, and uncomment (i.e. remove the "--" at the beginning) the following lines (you'll see them in two sections, one for outboard and one for inboard pylons):

--   { CLSID = "{BRU41_6X_MK-82}"                  },   -- BRU-41 6*Mk-82

This loadout isn't listed in the centerline section (probably because the 6xbombs on the MER would block the gear doors), but I added this line at the end of the section and it worked fine.  Also, for all five MER's with 6xMk82's, I was able to select 82's and release them all.  I used a program of 10x1 with 150ft separation, and got 3 drops.. really works well on concentrated ground units/infantry etc. :).
