S!  I believe Grey that the P38 variant modeled in game is a P38J-25, I believe there were no Xmas tree rockets until P38 L series so its correct that they don't have Xmas trees, besides they were historically very inaccurate and not well liked

IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad / TAW Campaign
« on: September 18, 2019, 03:50:05 pm »
S! Just wanted to say congrats and thanks to all AKA who participated in the TAW campaign, even tho we lost this war 5 maps won to 3 maps won,the campaign lasted for 2 months which is one of the longest running TAW wars in a long while, we in AKA placed 29th out of 136 squadrons so we had a good run as a squadron, also congrats to Rel for most AKA Air to Air kills (19) and to Jericho for most AKA ground kills (484) well done fellas !!! I hope that when the next TAW starts we can get more participation from more AKA pilots, those AKA pilots not flying TAW are really missing out on a very good time.

Ram have you read the specs in game for each AC concerning engine limits and or time at emergency-combat settings?,ive found that they are a pretty good guide to keep your engines alive, ive had no trouble keeping my engines alive even tho I push them harder than Rel does as long as I am mindfull of time at full throttle/boost settings.

I don't think many human pilots burn up engines much in online servers at least not many that ive seen, try reading up on the AC specs in game and that should give you a guide to use for engine management .

I was thinking we could break it up into 3-4 successive campaigns,do 1941,then progress to 1942,etc.. moving the plane set and maps with each successive year, not strickly eastern front historical but a mix of both Western Front and Eastern Front.

S! Another thing to consider is Flight leaders,Element leaders and their wingmen,i would suggest as in real war that those with the most experience lead flights,we would need probably minimum of 2 depending on what the mission plan calls for, one to lead strike package and other to lead escort, you cant expext to run a strike in on targets without an escort in the online war servers and survive,we really need to work on this!!!,we did this years ago when forgotton skies was very big in 46"we few that broke away years ago after FS stopped and moved to flying COD in the big SOW wars have been doing this, we need to train up a bit as a large group flying together again if we want to be a force to be reckoned with again

Gos it would be very hard to plan a mission that far in advance as coconuts campaign is a moving campaign meaning the targets change from mission to mission, you have to see what would be priority targets just before takeoff, also it would be better to just work on ground targets,,formation flying etc as there is very little in the the way of air to air AI opposition, for that we would need to go to TAW or other online servers, because the ai offers little challenge and opportunities to work wingman tactics

S! I have not participated in any BOX AKA campaign because of the use of Icons...  one thing to consider for leveling the playing field for the allies even tho it cant carry bombs in game but would not only be historically correct but also equal  the 109s of that early-mid war vintage would be to add Spit Vs to the allied lineup, another is why not limit the numbers the of 109F4s available You could use more 109F2s instead, make very limited numbers of 109F4 available as historically the Spit V and the 109F2 entered combat for the first time within weeks of each other early 1941,imo the 109F4 is far over modeled in game, if it was this good in reality it wouldn't have been surpassed by later models,109G series etc... also for balance sake as well as useful AC for both sides that are very close in performance include the Yak 1b, LA5 and 109G2,FW190A3, the Kuban map is quite large so that could spread things out a bit, BUT you have to lose the ICONS as they are a Sim killer.however these are just a few thoughts from a veteran AKAer from many years of membership who is one of a handfull who left flying 1946 years ago for newer sims and are now on the outside looking in so take these thoughts with a grain of salt...……

IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad / TAW starting back up
« on: February 14, 2019, 05:59:42 pm »
TAW will be starting this weekend either Feb 16'17, how many want to participate? as usual we probably should fly allied because axis always has many more squads, pilots than allied side does.

EDIT: @ Rel; Can you sign us up as a squadron Rel? I just registered as a Red pilot but not sure how register our squad

I just bought a new dell gaming computer,so it may take me a few days-week to get BOX,DCS back up and running, ive been fooling around with BOX again last couple of weeks after 8 months off, but frame rates were still only just playable with the old rig no better than they were back in march after the big update back then but wanted to let those AKAers know that fly TAW  will be starting another war on Sunday the 25th of November so I hope to be able to fly soon, just need to get DCS and BOX info saved so I can save my bindings, settings etc....for input to new machine

EDIT: I also already registered as allied ,im sure the axis will have no trouble filling up allies always need pilots
