DCS Series Flight Sims / Re: A4E-C US Navy Scooter
« on: July 08, 2019, 06:49:55 am »
The nice thing about this A4E Scooter is that only about 7 things need to be learned and that is all there is a need to know to have fun with this great mod.
The rest of it is in managing those things (this part is easy once set up). Earlier jet aircraft had just switches and limited functions anyway,so learning it is easy.

If anyone wants to give the Scooter a go give me a holler. I have a good mission for the Scooter to practice in. lets go ahead and do a 20 min session on the ground and in the air.

DCS Series Flight Sims / Re: Fa-18 Hornet up to date user manual??

On the Too thing..

The missing info is how to lock the selected radar site in the display. If its locked then it should be possible to fire the missile.
I know I can scroll through the radar sites on the Harm Display in 'Too' mode, but firing them requires something else.

Any one know what that something else is?
Is it the uncage command?

DCS Series Flight Sims / Fa-18 Hornet up to date user manual??
« on: July 07, 2019, 07:29:20 am »

Why is this aircraft so impossibly out of date regarding use of its sensors and systems??
I don't understand this world today.
How does a product, as complex and as high quality as this Fa-18 simulation, go into commercial offering, without any documentation or a user manual from the developers?
These utubes, good as they are, lack in updates and they are all over the place!

Newer features become available for download and yet without a pdf or even a utube for that matter to explain the new stuff? I don't get it.

Obviously, I am missing something important. Please indulge me if you know anything concrete!

I got the persion gulf map now during the sale yippee!
So I have Caucuss, PersionGulf, Nevada and Normandy maps
F5 which I learned to fly and found functional, yet quite minimal in AG and AA capability (looks nice though)
Fa18 Hornet which is wonderful! (provided you have four arms waving around like a chinese Budda!)
My favorite is still the freebie mod A-4E Scooter.

A we all Ya know one cannot just jump around in these airplanes, so Im sticking with Scooter and Fa18 as my secondary.

DCS Series Flight Sims / Re: poll: WWII maps and aircraft

Wolf Grey and I have done some Normandy with WWI assets pk missions, but only P51.
I will say that the P51 flight modeling and activity on the ground has been immersive as heck!

Watching B17s drop 'carpet style' on a rail yard was a lot of fun to watch. This sim has a lot of potential, but the limited plane set is a real turn off.

I guess some of us (like me) will not be able to wait forever for developers to sign on and actually develop WWII aircraft. It seems that there are too many license restrictions in place.
Having said that, I still think Normandy is a nice map. I would buy it again. The flight modeling of the p51 is probably the most accurate in the sim world. The ai enemies (109-k4 and Dora) act very intelligently as do our bombers and escorts.  They seem to operate in the same laws of physics we have to contend with.
I believe the AI is superior to any other sim. (They seem to have a mind of their own, they almost act human,  which leads to immersion)

Finally if you are asking about buying Normandy WWII assets pak Id say yeah. Three of us have it now and you could join of host us. The map itself is quite spectacular in areas around Factory and Rail yards. Good Eye candy there.

Turn off the A-4E-C mod in the game if it is on. (Modules)
Make sure any older copy is deleted first.
'Saved Games\DCS.Openbeta\Mods\Aircraft\A-4E-C'

Look for the 'A-4E-C' folder in the zip

Put the folder into

'Saved Games\DCS.Openbeta\Mods\Aircraft..'

New version 1.31 available now. I think it is needed with the new DCS mod. Its pretty easy to install and can be disabled in the game to maintain 'purity' for joining other servers.

PS: I love this aircraft, I don't really care that much that it is not a pure simulation.  It is not that obvious and it is also a lot of fun to fly and fight with!

This is as close as one can get to simulating he vietnam era in DCS. I am personally surprised that there are not more pple among us who would enjoy flying this aircraft.

With shrikes and a center gun pod this scooter rocks! It is better that the F5.

Not liking this upgrade much. Some of the functions in the mission editor (waypoint actions in particular) are erratic and it looks like a lot of prior missions will not work.
I hope the original mission will play out properly.

The A4-E mod has gun pods but (with this new massive mod) they do not graphically appear on the plane anymore. I know no one cares and actually they do still shoot so I really don't care too much either, but it is funny that this appear so there may be other , (hopefully minor) issues..

PS I will try a repair too, who knows..
