Going to build my wife a new computer, in a couple of weeks
« on: January 26, 2016, 09:06:50 pm »
Going to build my wife a new computer, in a couple of weeks. She has one of my old core2duo and hates it! it will be good, but not for gaming. Although it would work. She hates hers so much she just build with hate over it being slow. She only writes lets and pays bills. Gotta wait until we get some tax money back, just filed taxes. I look at Newegg.com often and shop there often. I have Lots of part I can move to a new case, new motherboard, I have power supply, video, Win10. etc.

BTW, she want's a white pc case but they charge 2x  $$ more, for white PC cases, might have to paint a black case white.   :o

Wow!! Sounds like a terrific system, Ram.
Will you be sending the EVGA 680 GTX back to me then and if so, let me know when so I can watch for it. We've had a couple boxes get stolen and I don't want that card to meet the same fate.
Glad you got some use out of it.
I'll have it available for someone else to use until they can afford to get a new one themselves.

Gos

EVGA (computer parts) has a purchase program, with 'Affiliate Code' assigned to your account. if someone makes a purchase, and includes the code, they give the person EVGA bucks, for future purchases. If anyone that buys stuff from them wants to use it that would be cool, and vice-versa.

Hey Ram

Let me know how it goes installing win10 on a fresh Hard drive.

Also if you could, define extra copies of win10. Are they paid for with unique serial numbers?

Is it in the USB boot disk image format and if so how did installation go for you?

Is there a way to purchase the OS for fresh install these days?
I am very curious because I'll be doing similar stuff soon to make myself a new crate. hep me hep me!

My Win10 Pro was the free upgrade from Win 8.1 They have a tool you run, it checks to see if your Windows is good to good for Win10. once it says it meets spec, then you can run install, or save, or set a time. It saved all my stuff. I chose to save all my apps and files. I have my hard drive set with several partitions, and Win10 is on C: drive, partition.

btw, the wife got my old computer, it already had win10. I built a new one for me, and put Win10 on it. I have Linux, Winxp and 2 computers with Win10.

Sooo getting win10 on a fresh formatted HD is not soo easy as I thought.

I think you can't even pay for a version that self installs on a Fdisked HD.
The licensing is screwey and I hate that part of it.

How is one supposed to set up a brand new rig from newegg parts if the OS is not avail.
I'll have to look into this more I guess.
