P51
« on: November 14, 2016, 12:30:19 am »
So I was on Cod today for quick fly had my ear phones on ... was doing and emergency landing at Dieppe ..managed to get down and switch off engine when I heard the roar of a merlin quickly scanned the around could not see any thing then realized it was out side the back door ... managed to get a quick glimpse of a p51 before It disappeared on finals for Archerfield Airfield about 12 kms from me.. really cool, Talk about heart rate change..

Apparently a gentleman by the name of Mr Bishop just bought it  for 2 M a twin seater he is going to use for adventure flights and pilot training. so hopefully I can get photo next time.

Ya could always offer to trade him stick time for stick time and let him fly your P-51 from DCS, and maybe add the incentive that you'll let him fly your version for TWICE as long as he lets you ride in his.

Lol I wonder if he has DCS to practice with ... I would burn out the Starter every time I try a start up :(

My DCS is stuffed anyway I will have to re- install everything again.

DCS is really fun for that, the whole start up procedure and you don't have to spend 3K to fill the tank!

Very cool!  Only saw Bob Hoover once at an airshow with his P-51.  Hope you can trade something for a ride.

you have to set your throttle up just a bit, and after it starts with the choke on, switch the choke off, then idle it back to idle. If it is just slightly idled up, the parking brake is good.

for DCS P-51 startup, WITH MY SAITEK I ADD ABOUT 5% OR LESs THROTTLE, AFTER I SWITCH OF THE CHOKE TO IDLE I DROP THE THROTTLE BACK TO IDLE. (sorry about caps...). Even in auto mode move the throttle to 5%, or so, no, the plane will not move at 5%... especially with  the parking brake on.
