It can carry more bombs than the F-5 and Mirage but I don't know if it can carry LGBs (I would assume it should be able to, but it would have to pair up with a JTAC or A-10C to buddy lase for it).

It has dedicated anti-ship missile which might prove useful in future missions but for right now there is probably not much use for them.

It has radio-command air to ground missiles but I'm guessing their utility will be limited simply because you have to be pretty close to the target.

Same goes for the Maverick.  No targeting pod means you have to get pretty close before you can employ them.

Its self defense is limited to Sidewinders so it will be comperable to the F-5 in that respect.

The one thing that catches my eye is the BK90.  It is a STANDOFF cluster munition.   Now THAT could be useful.

I'm already working on a cockpit diagram and a startup checklist.

The mavericks will be semi-useful, they will lock on before you can make out the target in the small scope (which of course the maverick cameras are slaved to).

However,,I like that you can lock and fire on up to 4 targets in a general area, turn around and head home at ~3x the speed of the A-10 or ~twice the speed of the SU-25T :)...

Pre-purchase
The AJS-37 Viggen is a Swedish double-delta supersonic attack aircraft from the late Cold War. It was the backbone of the Swedish Air Force during the Cold war, serving as the main attack and anti-ship platform. The AJS is the 90’s upgrade of this 70's era aircraft, adding several advanced weapons and systems functionalities. The aircraft was designed around the pilot, with an excellent man-machine interface, supporting the pilot through the smart use of autopilot systems, radar and HUD symbology in order to deliver the ordnance onto targets from treetop level with high speed attack runs.
The aircraft is armed with multiple weapon systems ranging from programmable stand-off weapons such as the RB-15F antiship missile to the BK90 Cluster munitions dispenser to various bombs, rockets and missiles for a wide range of target types. The aircraft can also carry gun pods and the Sidewinder series of infrared-guided missiles for air defence and self-protection purposes.
Key Features of the DCS: AJS-37 Viggen include:
Highly detailed and accurate 6-DOF (Degrees of Freedom) cockpit.
Extensive and highly detailed aircraft modelling systems such as:
CK37 aircraft computer with navigation data, time on target, and fuel calculation systems.
Data input / output interface and pre-planned data cartridge functionality.
Automatic dead reckoning navigation and terrain contour matching position update system.
Flight instrument systems.
Electrical and hydraulic systems.
TILS Tactical Instrument Landing System.
Advanced RM-8A jet engine modelling with thrust reverser, compressor surges and stalls.
Sophisticated high-resolution air-to-ground radar technology modelling the PS-37/A radar including:
Multiple radar amplifications and filter settings.
Obstacle detection mode.
Memory mode.
Air-to-Air mode.
Highly accurate advanced flight model based on real performance data and documentation.
Maritime reconnaissance capabilities to determine position, course and speed of vessels.
Advanced programmable weapons such as the RB-15F anti-ship missile with multiple waypoints and the configurable BK-90 "Mjolnir" Cluster munitions dispenser.
Detailed modelling of over 14 unique weapons and miscellaneous stores with multiple versions and delivery methods, ranging from rockets, bombs, to advanced air-to-ground missiles such as the command-guided RB-05A and the TV-guided RB-75 "Maverick" missiles.
Comprehensive 400+ page flight manual.
Extensive interactive & voiced training tutorials.
Several campaigns and missions including:
Caucasus campaign*
Mini NTTR DACT campaign*
Mini Caucasus introduction campaign.*
Instant action and single player missions.
* may not be available in early access.

That page shows the fighter version, the JA-37, and what is in DCS is as you showed on your next post is the AJS-37 ground attack version.

Was looking at the beta Viggen manual... so in it's clean state it appears to have no gun, flare/chafe countermeasures or ECM...  If you want them you have to mount a pod for each (gun pods - or one each countermeasures pod and ECM pod) in the inner wing pylons.  Sort of limits the amount of air-to-ground ordinance you can carry to just the two under-fuselage pylons, as the outer wing pylons can only carry the RB24 Sidewinders.  If you're not forced to mount a pair of gun pods, then one with a countermeasures pod would at least give you some strafing ability after you deploy the pair of under-fuselage weapons, plus have some countermeasures for short range IR SAMs or if dogfighting with enemy fighters.

If you choose to load 4 RB75 Mavericks with two RB24 Sidewinders you have no countermeasures so you'd better launch from outside the IR SAM's effective range!  For radar SAMS you would be totally reliant on notching and using your powerful engine's stage 3 afterburner to head for the deck! :).

I purchased a while back.  I will be taking a relative home from the hospital on Friday but as soon as I get home I am patching and adding the Viggen to the training mission and getting up in it.

I prepurchased it last week.  From what I understand Leatherneck does not participate in the bonus plan, the only other way to get a discount is to wait for it to go on sale which will take a while.  So 20% off for prepurchasing seemed like a decent deal.
