Mouse pointer travels on its own...
« on: November 04, 2013, 08:30:09 am »
 :(

S! All.

My mouse travels across the screen on its own, sometimes slow, sometimes faster and faster as time goes on until I can't get in a click.

This happens randomly, and may begin at windows start up, or later while just normal use is going on.

Tried drivers, different mice, different USB ports, wired and wireless...all with the same result.

Sometimes a re-start of the computer solves it for a while.

SO...Can I do a Windows 7 64 bit repair or something without losing all my programs and settings?

Remember, I'm not good with software...that is to say, I suck.

Tks.

Mine did that last night after flying.
I wonder if it's to do with a windows update?
Do you have Windows 7?

Thanks, Trapper, but that fix doesn't help.

Taipan, yes, I have Win7 64 bit.

Have you updated your directx.
If you have that may be the issue.  I used windows update and it buggered my install up.
I reinstalled it and it works fine now.
You can grab a copy of directx from the directory of most recent games if you have any.

Cheers

Tai

Here's something you might try...your reliability monitor.

Just hit the start button and type in reliability in the search box.  It will bring up the following screen where you can look at the problems you had and try to find a solution.

You can see that today my HSFX7 hung up;  I found the problem (conflict of mods - yeah I'm already installing them).

You can click on any day's icons to see what happened and maybe find a solution.

There was also some website I found that showed you what to type in the CMD window to do a scan of your operating system and look for corrupted files and repair them.  I just can't remember it now; sorry.

When I had this problem it was down to a mouse lever on my throttle controller.  At first I disabled it then I was able to add a dead zone that stopped it from wandering all over the place.

Have a look in 'mice and other pointing devices' in device manager, if there is an item there that is obviously not your main mouse try disabling it.

Yes, you can.  Did a search today and found it.

https://www.google.com/search?q=scan+windows+7+for+errors&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7ADFA_en

This is the one I used:

Good luck !

Interesting, Fehler. But why do I see a marked similarity between the image with the cheese and the girl in the foreground??????
