OK! OK! OK!
You're right, Rel. I may have been a bit too dramatic in my summation and recommendations noted above. So,,,
Just to show you that I am willing to be ultra-flexible and a bird-brain of highly impeccable moral standards as well as a willingness to put you on a fairer playing field,,,
I'll go along with a "pair" of .30 cal. machine guns on your bi-plane, however, no harmonizing or timing gear can be installed for them. That effectively doubles your firepower.

Salute Gents,
If you have not voted please do so.
At present we have a tie between the Pacific and the Russian/Fin war.
If desired, those who have voted for other campaigns may change their vote for one of the above two campaigns to assist in breaking the tie.
Only votes cast in the physical poll will be counted.

Cheers

Same here, looks like we're going to Finland! :P

Doing some quick research, some stuff on Wiki, will look some more...

Russo-Fin Continuation War: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_history_of_Finland_during_World_War_II#Continuation_War
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_Air_Force#Continuation_War_1941.E2.80.9344

I was thinking early-mid 1942 so we can make use of all the odd aircraft Finland used (plus a limited number of 109G's, Dornier 17's and Ju-88's), but it won't be so late as to make them "too" obsolete vs the Russian stuff.  However, since the Finns took up mostly defensive positions around December 1941 until mid 1944, it may make more sense to go with mid-late 1941 since historically that's when the Finns were on the offensive, taking back territory the Russians had previously controlled.  If we go with mid-late 1941, I could still add a very limited number of 109E/Do-17/Ju-88 aircraft even though the German stuff probably didn't get transferred to Finland until '42/43...

Feel free to post your thoughts here, would affect the decision! :D

Feel free to fluff it a bit for the fun factor Rel!
Just remember what Gos said and as XO I restrict you to a milk crate with cardboard wings and pea shooters for guns!!
I can send you the blueprints if you need them as I was using the prototype on Friday night :o

Cheers

What about the lend-lease Hurricanes, Tomahawks and P-39's the Russians had during the early half of WWII? Let's get some (even if limited supply) into the action.

Rel noted: "I could still add a very limited number of 109E/Do-17/Ju-88 aircraft even though the German stuff probably didn't get transferred to Finland until '42/43"

If the people who insisted on this scenario really want this scenario, we should just have the plane sets that were available at that time. If, by chance they end up not liking the plane sets we are stuck with, maybe they won't request this scenario any more, or maybe the vote for this scenario won't win the next time around.

Since there seems to be a chattering for some late war aircraft in what Rel is calling the continuation war, can I propose a "What If" scenario......

How about those twin engines ....

P-38's and 410's ....

Come on guys, can I get a little love with this idea?

Also Rel, if Hang is going to go AI with you and Jer .... better practice up on your HangTenese language skills. How he handles the italian sounding names in this campaign, his abilities to manhandle the finnish/soviet names should be impressive. I may want to pop in on TS just to listen in.
The three most common expressions (or famous last words) in aviation are: "Why is it doing that?" "Where are we?" and "Oh Shit!"

LOL Gos, you sound mad :)

I brought up the German bombers because without them the Finns would only have the Blenheims (the A20DB was a stretch too) for ground attack/bombers, so it was more out of necessity.  Also without a few 109s the fighter corp was lacking as well :)

The lend lease aircraft were introduced later as well, but I could add them if we go a little bit later.  I can adjust the above for the 1942 scenario I mentioned, which would probably upgrade the 109 to a G model.  I'd probably swap the A20 to the Russian side and the DB3 to the Finnish side since they flew captured/damaged/fixed ones.

Nice try Grey :). I don't think P38's are going to make it to Finland, nor the 410 :).  I could add a few 110's to the Finnish side, although I haven't seen much evidence they flew there, but the Finns need more ground attack aircraft so maybe a possible stretch.

LOL - I'll brush up on my Hangtenese :)

Not mad, just don't like the Russian planes. According to Internet information (http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/english/articles/sheppard/hurricanes/):

"The Russians were asking for Spitfires, to the consternation of the RAF who were still building up their squadrons and phasing out the Hurricanes. It was decided at the Moscow Conference - First Protocol to send 200 aircraft a month between October 1941 and June 1942. These consisted mainly of Hurricanes, but also Tomahawk IIB's and P39 Airacobra. (Later the Russians were to receive over 1000 Spitfires but did not actually like them in the end). The Russians also received supplies of guns, tanks, clothing, rubber, engines, trains - anything used in wartime."

As far as the rubber was concerned, I'd have suggested as may rubbers as possible be sent to the Soviets, but this did not appear to have been done.

Thanks Tai - yep, already picked the airfields and did a small amount of road network work.  I'll see about adding trains.  Ships... I don't think there were any sea-borne invasions, but I can add some limited naval (i.e. capital) shipping on each side :).  I could add one small shipping convoy on the Red side so the island airfield on Kronstadt can be resupplied (other than air).  But I probably won't add any other harbors other than the shipping spawn point on each side, we'll see...
