There was a small update to 2.5 today ....went online and really didn't have any issues (other then getting shot down by 2 migs) I was in the cold war server. On a side note my loading times are good.

I have only tried the Huey in Blue Flag, Jsetk, and single player.  In all three my load tomes were well under 2 minutes.  It did take the chopper 15 seconds or so for the graphics to generate.

I know that my new computer is probably towards the top end, and I know Sully has a new machine as well.  I have 32 GB RAM but Sully has 16, we both have newer CPUs and SSDs, and both have 1080 GTX.  Just listing to see what specs may matter.  Frankley, i dont think SSDs would make the difference that others are seiing.

I did go into the single player Huey mission entitled easy attack, in VR.  Frame rates seemed to be down 10%, from 45 fps to 41 fps.  The season was autumn and the targets wete near a stand of trees, some evergreens and some with color. Simply put, flying through the trees, trying NOT to hit them was simply BEAUTIFUL.  As a test, I decided to fly through the trees until I found a small opening, and land.  This was to simulate a hot LZ.  It was such a rush!  I think this will add a lot for us helicopter jockeys.

I agree Clutter ......SSD probably only matters to load times.....moving forward probably would be best to have a card with 6-8GB of vram and at min. 16GB of system ram.....

I have most things maxed with msaa off/shadows flat

This game looks awesome now...the runways the trees /landscape....I'm definitely putting more stick time in...I need Huey hot zone landing practice for sure ;).....

offline it looks good,,, online, multiplayer, had big problems connecting, so could not really test much. Until they fix the online playing bugs... I can see how the SSDD would help a whole lot. But, a regular decent hard drive will do, one they get the bugs out... IMHO

The Video Card should have at least 3 gb ram. 16 gb of good quality motherboard ram.
this should be good for medium settings...

of course no one one knows for sure until they debug the open beta... fix the really bad memory leak!    :o

I think an SSD will be important if the page file becomes necessary for folks who have 16 GB of RAM or less (for folks who have 8 GB the page file probably will be a must). I hope that the memory issue they have can be fixed to the point where 16 GB (the recommended amount of RAM) is enough to turn off my page file again.  IMO if you use a page file your best bet is to have your page file on a SSD, even better would be an SSD that does not have your OS on it.  SSD’s are considerably faster than a HDD, and since the page file is in “virtual” RAM you want something that is fast as possible.

FYI I am traveling for business, so I am not flying this week.

Ok Clutter ... I'm pulling the trigger and getting a SSD.  Just a regular ... won't be able to use a M.2 (not cost effectively anyway).

Once you get that puppy installed, you can also configure the SSD to help cache windows files and ect from your older HD, thus making your system run even faster.
