I REALLY LIKE MY ddr 4 2400 RAM.. BUT NOW YOU CAN GET 3200

That's true but For gaming, there is no 'real world' difference ( like +1 or 2 FPS) between 2400MHz and 3200MHz+.

Ram,

It will be a clean install of Windows 10 pro.  Also the main game files (e.g., DCS, BOx, Elite Dangerous, etc.) will be clean installs.  Support files like CH manger will be copied over.

Drives will be mixed: 1 TB NCMe m.2 (new boot drive), 500 GB SSD, 250 GB SSD, 3TB HD, and 1 TB HD. At this point i am not planing any partitions.

i7 8700k with 32 GB(2x16) DDR4 3600.  Corsair AIO CPU cooler.

This rig will have to last for a WHILE.  😀

I recently did a test tonight of the m.2 drive and a SSD drive.  The results did surprise me.

Oh yeah, M2 drives are a huge jump even over an SSD, Which is crazy when you think of how mush faster a SSD is over a HDD.  I have a new PC speced out on Newegg but to be honest my six year old gaming rig that I built still holds it own.  What I really need is more space, I when I do build another gaming rig it will be with a new flight chair, controls and monitor (TV) so I have two rigs going, but right now I dont have space in my house for two set ups.

I was going to break down and upgrade my Video card but the prices are ridiculous right now.  Bitcon has F'ed up the graphcs card market and they are all going for 30% over list price when you can find them.

Yea e-currency has f-up the GPU market and I think it has caused memory/SSD prces to inflate as well.

I did this build mainly for VR, but so far haven't seen much gain in fps.  A little better resolution/clarity but that is about it.  Still need to get my RAM OCed to factory specs.

Sully , when you get your rig set up and working please let me know how you were able to get a copy of the OS.
Thats the one thing that made my last build very difficult.

Thanks in advance

I used Acronis to clone the drive from the HDD to the SDD but there are others  .....If your doing a new build before you start the new build and before you copy over the OS remove all the drivers motherboard/graphics/ etc. off of windows on the old drive. Removing the drivers before cloning insures you won't have any conflicts in the system when you boot up the new build. There's lots of videos out there on this.
