Was looking at the Coconut thread in the IL2 forum, and saw this in one of the responses by Coconut regarding the cash reserve:

...cocobucks are now solely for prestige, they can no longer be used to buy/rent planes.

So head's up that in a future build of the Coconut campaign engine, you will no longer be able to use your cash reserve to buy the right to a plane in a forward airfield if you didn't ferry it yourself.

Coconut has added new features to his latest build, I think the changes he is talking about are for his servers and are options that we can change.

Quote
# Whether players can spend cash reserve to borrow planes they haven't reserved
    PlaneRentalAllowed: true
    # Cost factor for buying planes from the rear airfield
    RearAirfieldCostFactor: 0.125
    # Max amount of cash a player can hold
    MaxCash: 10000
    # Initial amount of cash for each player
    InitialCash: 5000
    # Max number of reserved planes of a type at an airfield
    MaxReservedPlanes: 2
    # Max total number of reserved Planes
    MaxTotalReservedPlanes: 6
    # Part of plane rental money returned
    MoneyBackFactor : 0.75
