How to Zero Your Gunsights
« on: August 13, 2013, 10:48:14 am »
A question came up last night on how to zero your gunsight.

Here is a YouTube instruction on "how to":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzxLT4FlgKQ

Got it, thanks. I had to makie sure the TrackIR was paused and the motor was not running, then it seemed to work just fine!
Thanks again.

You have to hit R to load your guns.  After a while, they run out and you have to hit R again to reload them.

so, after going through the steps above, if I hit my trackir center key, it goes back to center, it doesn't line up at the new place I set.

basically, not working

Did you center then pause TrackIR before going through the steps ?

Or heck, just don't use TrackIR for the setup.

The point of the setup is to give you a new center view.

Try again.  You're missing some step.

Edit: sounds like you're not saving the setup by hitting F10

well, I did each step exactly... wondering if I need to make sure my bindings are right for F10 though (ie. I don't think I have anything in trackir controlling it)

Here you go Recon.  Look under Head: save snap.

I'm using TrackIR and the only keys I use via Joystick assignment are F12 center, and F9 pause.

Is this something only for TrackIR?  If I'm understanding correctly, will this save the view of zoomed in on your guns so you auto go there?  I use the mouse with my left hand and have a button on my stick that snaps forward and another to zoom in.  Insta zoomed in on the gun sight would be awesome!

No, it just adjusts or centers your gunsights.   Nothing to do with TrackIR.

After you center your sights the last steps are zoom out and save.

So, no again, you don't get an instant zoom forward.  Sorry  :'(

I have never used this method.  I always just adjust my noggin.
Me thinks I might try this one to see.
Thanks

Question about zoom controls...  I just can't figure this out!

In both IL2 and COD, there are FOV "positions" that can be mapped to buttons.

In my simpit, I have a three position, sliding switch on my throttle that I can map for views.  Additionally, I have an eight position switch mapped to the last position on my throttle which basically gives me 10 different FOV positions I can use.

Honestly, I don't use that many.  I like the full FOV, a medium setting that I can actually read the cockpit gauges, and a close in for strafing, etc.

All I have been able to do with ROF is set a the zoom using a rotary!  I can zoom in and out using the same lever I normally use for pitch control in other flight sims, but I would rather use my three (really 10) position switch.

So the question is...  how can I map separate FOV positions to switches?  I can't find the option in ROF!  Likewise, I hear BOS and even COD might be going to a zoom system similar to ROF!  If that is the case, I wont be able to zoom at all since I already have all my axis used up for something else!  Grrr!

This is what I have currently mapped in my Bodnar controller(s)

1.  Stick:  X, Y
2.  Pedals Z
3.  Aileron trim
4.  Rudder trim
5.  Elevator trim
6.  Throttle
7.  Prop pitch
8.  Flaps  (Flaps on a slider = the BOSS in IL2!)  You guys ever wonder how I can our turn your spits in a Dora?  Now you know...  LOL

Anyway, please help.  I would really like to map FOV positions to keys in ROF!

I have mine mapped to one of my HAT switch's so I can select the desired zoom.
I'm not sure if they have a fixed zoom but I'll check tonight if you don't have an answer.

Cheers
