North Africa 1942 Campaign
« on: September 16, 2018, 07:16:44 pm »
S! all,

I worked on the NA42 campaign configuration, and I think I fixed the missing parts - there were changes to IL2/46 and HSFX since this was run back in 2014, so I had to make some tweaks.  I generated a mission and was able to run the mission offline and spawn into aircraft OK, which is a good sign.  It would probably be good to run some test campaign missions.

In the mean time, I generated a mission and have set up the dogfight server to run that mission - so if you want to practice flying the NA aircraft, feel free.  Also, when I was setting it up with Tai, we discussed and made a few slight tweaks, including:

- Ships are 200 points instead of 300 like before (some convoys only have 1 destroyer and 3 transports, so they are less risky to attack)
- Parked aircraft are 30 points instead of 20
- I've made all twin engine bombers "backup" supply aircraft, which will take 5 units of fuel/supply instead of 10 like the normal supply aircraft.  The German side has the Me323 as before, just one at the supply base (it holds 30 units of fuel)

Tai, let me know when you want to run the first test mission - maybe we can do 2x90 minute missions on two separate nights, that would be a good test, then go live.  As you may have seen, the web site is already set up with the NA42 campaign, so you can see the plane set - of course we need to set up the sides again, and I can change that info once it's decided.

S! Rel

Thanks Rel!
Nicely done.
I will arrange the details for sides this week.
If all goes well we could run a test next Sunday if that works for you.

Cheers

Tai

I will volunteer to be one of the side commanders unless someone wants to step up to the task.

We should have a signup sheet for each side so the CO's can bargain and pick.

(the side that doesn't have Mo and Big10 should get 2 extra men, LOL)

Also, we really need to get a handle on who will be a regular and who will be part-timers so the sides don't get too out of whack on any given night.

p.s.  Really gonna miss Duck telling me the little woman has his supper ready.  :'(

Salute Gents,
We will run a test this Sunday.
We will need one more commander. If we have more than one volunteer we will put the names in a hat. I would recommend having a go at this as it can be a lot of fun.
If nobody volunteers, I will step up to the plate as a last resort.
Please post your name here if you intend to fly the campaign and how much you intend to fly.
Either full time or occasional.
Please do this by Saturday so we can make the adjustments to the files and pick the sides before Sunday.
Thanks.

Salute

Tai

Relent will fly the campaign on Sundays only.  Will try to make most Sunday missions.  Question - given the BoX campaign on Friday‚Äôs, is it yet official that the 46 campaign will be flown just on Sundays or Sunday and another day of the week (not Friday)?

Fortunately for you Rel, the 1946 Campaign will only be flown on Sundays now. That was my understanding.

I thought so as well, but was wondering if it was official.  Thanks.

Rel, I have been unable to get the practice server to load. Get "Loading error". Loaded to 85% one time. 3 other attempts were much less than 85%>
