I don't know, maybe I'm getting too old for this sh&t lol

I must be a crappy fighter pilot anymore.  If this is the maximum performance turn at sea level for the Bf-109F-2 and the Yak-1:

Bf 109 F-2
Maximum performance turn at sea level: 23.6 s, at 270 km/h IAS.

Yak-1 series 69
Maximum performance turn at sea level: 19.2 s, at 270 km/h IAS.

Then either I'm flying totally wrong, or the other guy's aircraft is over-achieving.

Died last night in a dogfight on the deck, in a horizontal turn he cut inside me no problem, causing me to try crazy moves to avoid getting shot to pieces, and of course stalled in and died.  Getting pretty old.  I don't totally believe the performance numbers that the BoX team posted for these aircraft - Unless I'm flying a Spit I don't feel I can out-turn a 109F series with anything in the Russians inventory :(.

What do you expect with an arcade game?

I don't believe a damn thing coming from the developers. My bullshit meter pegged a long time ago with how severe the ground looping is. When our own actual pilots say it's over done, it's over done and yet those idiots have not addressed it.

I know, I’m just ranting.  I’ll still fly as it’s still the best “current”  WW2 flight sim available, but I just have to get more creative when I find myself in a disadvantageous situation.

I just don't really have anything good to say about this game. Like mom said, if your don't have anything good to say, keep your damn mouth shut.

I don’t think you are ranting Rel, I think there are still some suspect things still going on.  I am not sure if folks have figured out how to “adjust” the flight models or if some aspects like correctly modeled drag due to flap deployment are fully implemented.

One thing that I did notice about the YAK after their flight model revamp a while back was that it was much more prone to dropping a wing than before.  I had a hard time sticking with a 190 in a rolling scissors (he had his flaps down) at low speeds, I kept stalling and he seemed to have no issue: the YAK should eat the 190 alive in that situation.

I was dropping a wing quite a bit, so I agree with your assessment.  When you look at the wing structure of the Yak (pointy wing tips), it does seem like there is probably a higher wing loading than say a Lagg-3 or La-5.  I guess with the similarly shaped wings of the Yak-7B or Yak-1B they have stronger engines, so they can maintain a higher speed in a turn than a Yak-1.

FYI, I posted in the IL2 forum asking about maximum performance turn, curious what sort of responses I get :)https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/39976-can-someone-enlighten-me-on-maximum-performance-turn/

You have one good comment on your post, I would say he is on the money.  There is a good observation in there that I was going to mention as well at slower speeds (below 270 kph) the 109 will out turn a YAK because of the leading edge slats.

Keep in mind Rel a lot of 109 jocks predominately fly 109's where if you fly Allied a lot you will switch planes.  I wish more servers would allow Tacview, it would clarify a lot of things like, highlight possible modeling problems and if there was some cheating it would shine a spotlight on it.
