AJS-37 Collimator sight for the RB-75 - flashing issue
« on: January 23, 2019, 09:44:05 pm »
Wondering if any one else (Ram, you fly the Viggen a lot) is having issues with the Collimator sight for the Viggen when trying to search for targets etc.. mine is acting strange.

First, after I switch the armament dial to the RB75 and have the mode in NAV (or ANF), I un-safe the weapon and the sight shows up.. but soon after, it starts flashing, which makes it difficult to slew and lock with T1/TV.  Also, after that, when I fire, the sight is supposed to close (go dark), until you safe and unsafe the weapon again.  But sometimes it just keeps flashing.  I am able to fire the Mav, but the flashing makes it difficult.

Anyone else having issues with the flashing Collimator sight in the Viggen?  I've got fairly recent NVidia drivers, so it shouldn't need another update.  Wondering if it's just me...

I have not tried it in a month.. they fixed it last time I used the sight.... truthfully, when it first came out it seemed good then they screwed it up badly, finally fixed it a couple months ago.... but not sure about flashing... I have to try some more.... but, I felt it usable a month ago when I tried that sight,,,,, I don't remember flashing problems...

I don't remember the flashing either.  I posted in the ED forum, and was told this was a feature from the beginning...

Supposedly it's a ground proximity warning, plus if there is a missile launch it flashes as well.. such as when you fire the RB-75/Maverick. I'll have to test some more, but I'll fly a bit higher next time and use the alt hold, see how it goes.

if it did flash, I thought it was just screwed up.... so maybe it did, but I did not recognize it as a feature....

ok, tried it,,, hard to lock targets, as it is hard to see the targets... must have a solid non-shaky hand.... a real pia.... if you don't have perfect eyesight, and a steady hand, it will only draw you in and get yourself killed... IMHO....

btw, I locked a moving train with a Maverick, it left a huge crater under the train, didn't scratch the paint.   :o
