I usually don't get bad freezes in 1946, but last night I was getting bad ones... hopefully, no more

Question on the use of supply base. Since this is just us against the AI, can we ommit the supply base? Make our current airfield with enough aircraft that we don't have to worry about ferring. Is that even a possibility

The only other red airbase is Segi, and I think all aircraft there have inventory numbers between the 20’s and 40’s, so it’s pretty well stocked.  I’m not sure if I can put some arbitrarily large number as it may reset it to a lower number...  we can always restock after a few missions.  Same for the carriers, I can up the numbers there from 16 to 32 for those popular types.  Seems there are always a lot of losses from landings :).

Fly out over the open Pacific, find and bomb the enemy carrier,
Fly back to your own carrier and actually find it using Hydrake!
Priceless! ;D
Had great fun!

Cheers

Before you wipe out our supply base. Yes I know it's a long haul to ferry aircraft to the front. But it seems since the AI have been upped they seem to have a bug up their arse and appear to have made it their mission AI life to attack and harrass our front line land base at Segi.

Late in last nights mission we seemed to have completely run out of P-40's at least from Hangtens observations, and I think we started with 32 total at Segi at the mission start. Attrition rates like that mean we will be running out of the top flight A/C rather quickly.

We need to start to maintain a permanent 3-4 aircraft CAP over Segi or we are going to get hammered.

I changed the AI experience back to Veteran (was Ace), so that should help.  I reduced the bomber, attack and anti-shipping flights back to 3 flights of 3 (from 3 flights of 4), which of course spawn 4 times during the 3 hour mission.  This should help reduce the number of AI aircraft and improve playability.  Keep in mind the AI aircraft numbers won't change in the next mission, but the one after, as mentioned above.

There are plenty of P-40's at Segi (currently 31), so Hang may have just died/crashed/bailed and got kicked after he tried another P-40...

I haven't adjusted the aircraft number at Segi yet, as they are fairly high, although I did bump up the F6F-3 numbers on the carriers.  Also, where the F4U1A's didn't have any numbers on the carriers (not really historic for 1943), I've added a few to the carriers for fun sake - hope that's OK :).

Just a FYI to Rel and Tai,

I think we are going to need to do some more work on the Solomon 43 campaign. We are 2 missions in and the AI is overwhelming. Even at a reduced AI setting.

Mission 2 started with the front line ground base at Segi, unbelievably suppressed. Meaning we need to ferry a/c from the supply base at Russel just to attack anything. 30-40 min flight from Russel to Segi with a C-47, not sitting well with some. Guys just not having fun.

It didn't help that we didn't have a full roster either.

Hey Grey - that's odd, shouldn't have been that low.  I refilled the supply/fuel at Segi and Renard so you should be able to take off with bombs at Segi now.  Hopefully you'll be set next Tuesday.  Also, I lowered the AI experience one more level to 1 (average).  Hopefully that will help.

Ok, we can give it shot again next Tuesday. The big issue is the low supply thus suppressing that airfield. Also check our a/c numbers, the guys said we were out of 38's.

We had low numbers of pilots, so consider that combined with the increased AI number of flights. The humans are at a disadvantage. Think of the AI system in that Terminator movie. Once a slide happens with the humans. The downward spiral gets out of hand.

I will be gone next Tuesday as well, as I'll be in California.
We may need to reschedule?

Also, there were no P-40E's at Segi but plenty of P-40Ns

Keep in mind that for the original campaign the older aircraft were by design meant for AI only, thus only available at the supply base.  On the Japanese side, I changed some of the AI roles to use more front line versions, since there are no humans expected (or very few, like 1).

Regarding P-38’s and others at Segi, I see plenty (last column):

 >:D Having completed the third ? Mission now, some things are looking strange. Score keeping seems wrong , at least for the Blue side. Blue got credit for about 4 kills and Hangten and I lost more airplanes than that just trying to defend our home base. We were out of P-38's well before the end of the mission last night?

Wayno sends...

It could be if you died/bailed/crashed... remember it kicks you sometimes if you try to spawn in the same location again.  You may need to click on the supply base, pick a plane, then click back on Segi and spawn.  This is a known IL2/46 issue we’ve seen before.  Was anyone else able to spawn in a P-38 at Segi?  Seems there are P-38s there...
