DCS WWII:
Is the AKA single pilots and groups flying WWII maps and aircraft? While enjoyable,, I want to know if it is worth investing in with my limited budget?
are we using it together? Will We have group activity?

Time is limited, and most people are with IL-2 BOX.

Ram,

From what I've seen, most have BOx as well as DCS.  Although seversl of us have them, I have not seen a desire to do lot in DCS with the WW2 planes.  Dino was working on a mission but that was a few months back.

I am willing to do ww2 in DCS but would not expect it to replace BOx

Yeah, better count me out for DCS WWII stuff. Too few WWII planes and too limited on maps.
Not to mention, the cost and time needed to program controls for every plane.

Wolf Grey and I have done some Normandy with WWI assets pk missions, but only P51.
I will say that the P51 flight modeling and activity on the ground has been immersive as heck!

Watching B17s drop 'carpet style' on a rail yard was a lot of fun to watch. This sim has a lot of potential, but the limited plane set is a real turn off.

I guess some of us (like me) will not be able to wait forever for developers to sign on and actually develop WWII aircraft. It seems that there are too many license restrictions in place.
Having said that, I still think Normandy is a nice map. I would buy it again. The flight modeling of the p51 is probably the most accurate in the sim world. The ai enemies (109-k4 and Dora) act very intelligently as do our bombers and escorts.  They seem to operate in the same laws of physics we have to contend with.
I believe the AI is superior to any other sim. (They seem to have a mind of their own, they almost act human,  which leads to immersion)

Finally if you are asking about buying Normandy WWII assets pak Id say yeah. Three of us have it now and you could join of host us. The map itself is quite spectacular in areas around Factory and Rail yards. Good Eye candy there.

I have:

BF-109K4
FW-190D9
P-51D
Spit iX LF
Normandy Map

If any of you guys go up in DCS WWII for some missions let me know and I will try and tag along.  I know the P-47 is coming and I'm pretty sure there is at least 1 or 2 others on the drawing board thereafter but yeah DCS is not going to compete with the dedicated WWII sims out there in respect of airframe selection.  But it still would be fun.  I might buy at least 1 campaign for the P-51 for the sale.  I really want to see that carpet bombing action.

Damn..... looking at hitting that buy button..... $$$ ???   >:D :o ???
---

Update: I now have WWII Normandy. Can the vehicles made to be driveable. I selected drive by pilot stuff and the vehicles don't show up in the page were you choose your plane, etc. otherwise, it turned out ok,,, of course it would take many hours to populate the map with all the goodies... Mission is to escort the B-17G's, and some are air start, both sides. others are ground start both sides of the channel. Plus there are many ground vehicles, flak, AAA, ships, etc.

 ;)

btw,,, making stuff able to drive in WWII assets mod

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=220970

the whole thread needs to be read....

ED Forums » English » DCS World Topics » Mods and Apps » Allied & Axis FAC/JTAC Mod -WWII Assets Pack Required

 Allied & Axis FAC/JTAC Mod -WWII Assets Pack Required

In this MOD I have included both an Allied and Axis FAC vehicle. They are based on code from modern armoured vehicles, which makes them the FAC/JTAC capable.

Whilst the vehicles used have no armaments, they will behave as if they do. To avoid them opening up on targets, simply change the ROE to hold fire. Each unit has the ability to mark the TARGET AREA with a smoke marker (Willy Pete).

Both vehicles can be found in the Mission Editor under "ARMOR" named as follows:

Allied = *WillysMB_MOD
Axis = *Kubelwagen_MOD

You will need to place the extracted folder called WWII Driveable-FAC-JTAC in your saved games Mods folder, inside the tech folder. Please enjoy.

Version 2 (Roof Down Selection):

Liveries for Willys Jeep as requested: Simply download and copy the liveries folder into the WWII Driveable-FAC-JTAC-v2 Folder. Cheers.
