ACG / 401 Server

I realized coming back after awhile that they changed the formats at ATAG with no AI bomber groups.  So most all the fighting is on the deck.  Might be fun to go try out the ACG and 401 servers

great fun tonight on 401 server with Wolverine.  These flights are much much much more realistic and simulator.  They are a good group to fly with.

Sorry didn't see any of you there, but hopefully next time!

All the flights we went together.

1st flight strafed the target airfield
2nd flight, we summoned the Wellingtons and escorted them back - flight of 16 Wellingtons.

The radar system Wolverine has come up with it excellent.

After the bombers hit, we left them and ran into a group of 4 109's (we were a group of 4) - managed to shoot down two of them.

Very long flight, put made it back to Wilmington alive.

Good stuff!

Recon, if you can catch the server at the right time, there are tons of things to do.  Guys have been escorting bombers, we have had bomber groups going out (3-5 mostly), and it appears people are more interested in the stated objectives than ever before.

ATAG is fine, it's just a matter of personal preference.

I quickly get bored of every guy taking off for himself.

When I flew last night, everyone waited for each other, a mission plan was put in place, a group of 4 of us stuck together.  It was band of brothers.  First sortie I took a hit in my gasket and my oil pressure was high.  They returned me home.  Second sortie, everyone stuck together.  ATAG_Freya was on my wing, and I stuck with Wolverine and his teammate - it was fun.  They call out RPM and Boost, they always stick together.  I think some of it is Wolverine's personality, he is a good flight lead and his goal in the game is simulation.

Honestly, reminded me of the best of times in Forgotten Skies - when we'd all go out together to bomb a target as a team.  While everyone else on the server is out turn fighting on the deck to rack up kills we'd try to survive and accomplish our mission goal for that night.

I'm not saying ATAG doesn't.  Actually, when on ATAG comms they worked together - better than us sitting in our own comms pretending they don't exist :)  It's just harder to find this simulation mentality.  On ATAG I think the best fun I have is flying a Blenheim.  But not by myself :)

Hard to describe, maybe some of the fun I had was just that it was a change of pace, I felt much more immersive.   Even though it was against an AI opponent, and reminded me of a COOP (although anyone can join and fly Blue), it had some strategy to it.

Good points. I remember flying on Sundays with Wiley, MattE, Blasto, et al the same was done and it was a LOT of fun. Wiley and MattE do a good job of keeping everyone appraised of the settings being used. Of course, when combat is engaged, things get a bit hairy.
