windows 7 updates
« on: October 22, 2014, 03:09:29 am »
 Guys

over the last 4 weeks I have lost the ability to download files ie word or pdfs from out side sources..Iam also unable to update Stalingrad after un-stalling it to download the beta version. At the same time DCS locks up at 12% and wont download new updates.

Windows cannot download new updates either and I tried with nortons switched off.

I tried restarting services but says it is unable..

Anyone else have trouble or has anyone got fix for these issues...I want to explore all avenues before I pull this hard drive and re-install everything.

Hi Jer,

Do the downloads start and then not finish or just not start?  What error messages, if any, are you getting?

The last time I had problems Like this is was a memory problem  caused by a bad memory card.  I found it using this utility from MS
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.09.utilityspotlight.aspx

As you are having probs downloading you will need a second computer to DL and make the CD.

Before doing that I would check Control Panel -User Accounts - Change UAC settings - set to never notify and see if that helps.

There is a way to tell Windows to continue with updates, there is a file that was corrupted, I have been through this in the past. I will look to find it. Although I now use Win8, I used Win7 in the past.

Try a Reset in the Advanced tab in IE Explorer?
